Just a week after Pakistan team has won the T20 World cup, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has disbanded the national senior and junior selection committees with immediate effect. The board did not provide details on when the next panel of selectors would be named. “The interim selection committee will continue to function until further orders,” the statement said.

It will be disappointing news after a grand victory of T 20 World Cup by Pakistan; people were expecting to hear something to rejoice about from ICC regarding their rights of 14 fixtures in World Cup 20011. But the efforts ended in a smoke and International Cricket Council president David Morgan announced that Matches in the 2011 World Cup due to be staged in Pakistan will not take place in the United Arab Emirates, Instead, the 14 fixtures will, despite the wishes of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), take place in the three subcontinent co-host nations of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Bob Woolmer, a former England batsman, was found unconscious in his hotel room in Jamaica a day after Pakistan’s shock defeat to minnows Ireland in the 50-over World Cup in the Caribbean in 2007. He was rushed to hospital but later died. The Jamaican police initially treated it as murder and investigated Pakistan team members before declaring it a natural death. Bob Woolmer coached the Pakistan team from June 2004 until his death in March 2007.

ICC T20 cricket world cup is going on with surprises every day in England, whether win of Netherlands or two consecutive defeats of Aussies. Pakistan also lost to England unexpectedly. Pakistan’s captain, Younis Khan, may have dismissed Twenty20 cricket as just a bit of fun after their capitulation against England, but the defeat has had greater ramifications, with the resignation of Abdul Qadir after six months as chief selector.

Lalit Modi, the Champions League chief from India has declared that Pakistan is not a part of the seven-nation spectacle because their players cannot travel to India due to government restrictions.
“Unfortunately, the Pakistan government won’t give them (the players) clearance to come to India, and since Saturday was our cut-off date, it’s not possible to have a team from Pakistan this year,” Modi said in an interview.

Pakistan cricket is bracing for yet another controversy after enigmatic fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar decided to lead the Islamabad Leopards in the domestic Twenty20 Cup despite a skin infection that ruled him out of Pakistan’s World Twenty20 squad. It seems that the PCB has made the decision in a hurry for him. This attitude of PCB and Shoaib had affected his career earlier and in the future it will also be risky for him. He is a world class player and PCB should resolve the matters for the sake of team and country.

The role of ICC with Asian teams especially Pakistan has been not so sound whether it is the decision of Oval Test or Umpire Darrel hare. The recent up setting decision was stripping off the rights of Pakistan as world cup 2011 co host, for which PCB had issued a legal notice to ICC. I had written in previous articles the detail.
