Hillary Clinton’s bridge building Visit to Pakistan

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wound up a bridge-building visit to Pakistan on Friday leaving a sharp question ringing in my ears; ‘If she can go to such many places in Pakistan not only to approach Pakistanis hearts but facing tough questions and answering them herself (either satisfactory or not), why our leaders are reluctant to follow her foot steps?

We are paying the price of being the ally of US against war on terrorism although being a victim of the same. Osama is always searched in Pakistan; Afghan war can’t be conducted without our help than why only we are the sufferers, while we are the victims also?

Pearl Continental Peshawar after Blast

Taliban militants have stepped up bomb attacks since the military launched an offensive in the former tourist valley of Swat and neighboring districts northwest of the capital in April. At least seven people were killed and 34 others wounded in a huge bomb blast at the five-star Pearl Continental hotel in Peshawar Tuesday, officials said.

Waiting for food

The UN plans to issue on Friday another Flash Appeal for more funds to care for the displaced people. At a news briefing in New York, spokesperson Marie Okabe gave no figure for the amount being sought, saying it will be based on the needs of the UN agencies engaged in the relief work. Soon after the Pakistani military launched operations to flush out Taliban militants, the UN called for $150 million to meet humanitarian needs of the tens of thousands of fleeing civilians.
