Shutter Down in LahoreThe dilemma of power crisis from Karachi reached Lahore now. It has been the worst week in regards of load shedding while the icing on the cake comes from the government’s decision to increase the petroleum prices from 6 to 9 rupees a liter. The duration of load shedding reaches 8 to 12 hours or more. The fault has not yet been removed by PEPCO and it is hard to bear harsh summers with mercury touching 38 to 40 degrees. Enough reasons for Lahoris to protest.

Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka Test Series; An emotional encounter

The three-Test series is the first between Pakistan and Sri Lanka since armed gunmen fired on the Sri Lankan team bus while the players were on their way to resume a Test match in the Pakistani city of Lahore on March 3. Seven Sri Lankan cricketers were injured and eight local security men were killed in the attack that forced the cricket world to abandon Pakistan as a venue for international cricket.

Michael Jackson’s impact on Pakistan

Pakistani fans of Michael Jackson say they are shocked and saddened by the news of his sudden death. Jackson, who was often described as the most popular musician in the world, made his mark here in Pakistan, too.  Michael Jackson’s death led many of Pakistan’s local television channels Friday morning, knocking the near constant coverage of the military campaign against Taliban militants off the top of the news lineup, if only for a few hours. Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest today at 4am.

Lahore Blast

A powerful car bomb blast went off outside an emergency police service office on Lahore’s Mall road on Wednesday, killing 23 people and wounding around 237. It was a suicide car bomb blast. Rescue teams were shifting the injured to nearby hospitals. The suicide car bomb blast  also caused damage to buildings in the vicinity.
