Kiss The moon (Chan Di Chummi) A documentary about Transgenders in Pakistan

An official selection at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival and shown at the 33rd Festival des film du monde Montreal (Montreal World Film Festival), Produced with German collaboration and released in 2009, the 90-minute Chan di Chummi (Kiss the Moon) is a revealing documentary about the lives of transsexuals.

Katlama- The Delicious Festive food of Lahore

A local Lahori festive specialty, Katlama (pori base prepared with May’da i.e white flour) topped with Basin (gram flour) mixed with herbs and spices, and fried in oil in a flat iron pan of giant size (absolutely not for calorie conscious folks!!). No matter where you buy it, Katlama always tastes the same. It is also known as Desi pizza.

lahore International film festival 2009The Ali Institute of Education has scheduled 2nd Lahore International Children’s Film Festival from 6-11 October to showcase the best of local and international cinema by and for children in Pakistan exhibiting 263 movies from 37 different countries over the course of six days. The festival proved to be a success since its inception last year, and growing as leading children’s film festival in Pakistan. The festival attracts families, children and education community from Lahore. Last year, more then 11,000 people visited the festival.

Pakistan Racer Hunt 2009

In pursuit of bringing motor sport to Pakistan, Pakistan Racer Hunt 2009 talent hunt campaign has been launched. Trials for the massive nationwide talent hunt will be held in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The aim is to bring motor sport to public attention, identify young talent and just give everyone a chance to become part of this sport and enjoy with their family and friends at an extremely affordable rate.
This will be an annual feature and 10 drivers will be selected every year for training and development from across Pakistan. The winner of each year’s Racer Hunt will be given an International Racing Contract by Racing Pakistan for the following year.

Restaurants Offering Ramadan Deals in Lahore 2009

Although, inflation in Pakistan has increased by a significant amount in the last few years, people have not compromised with their eating habits. The restaurants and cafés in Lahore have considerably raised their prices as compared to last year, but the customer following has not decreased.

Ramadan Sehar o iftar timings For Lahore 1430 Hijri

The Ramadan timings for sehar and iftar varies from place to place. It is almost impossible to provide timings information about each and every place or city with accuracy. It will be good option to rely on those calendars provided by the shop owners during Ramadan as souvenir if you are living in Pakistan or to consult nearby mosque if you are living abroad to avoid any confusion regarding the timings.

Monsoon in Lahore

After a record breaking rain fall in Karachi and massive destruction the torrential rain hits hard Lahore, the heart of province Punjab. Heavy monsoon rains in Lahore left commuters stranded and streets flooded. 140 mm of rain has been recorded from around the city while the Met office predicts more rains in the coming days. Lahore has been experiencing heavy showers which have caused the low line areas to be submerged. The city is experiencing the worst traffic jams due to heavy downpour.

Swine flu patientThe Pakistan government confirmed the detection of the country’s first case of swine flu but said the patient had recovered and the disease was not transmitted further. The disease has been detected in one patient at the National Institute of Health Islamabad.

Made in paksiatn Documentary“Made in Pakistan” produced by “Still water Productions” and “Talking filmain” is an hour long documentary that was motivated by Newsweek’s cover story of October 29th, 2007 that declared Pakistan to be “The Most Dangerous Place in the World.” The film documents the lives of four ordinary Pakistani citizens during military rule in an effort to break Western stereotypes about the country.
