“Made in Pakistan” produced by “Still water Productions” and “Talking filmain” is an hour long documentary that was motivated by Newsweek’s cover story of October 29th, 2007 that declared Pakistan to be “The Most Dangerous Place in the World.” The film documents the lives of four ordinary Pakistani citizens during military rule in an effort to break Western stereotypes about the country.

According to the MET Office, over 100 mm of rain has been recorded in Karachi while around 90 per cent of the area remains without electricity for more than thirty hours. The heavy rain and gusty winds wrought havoc on Karachi’s infrastructure. Over 150 people were injured and the death toll from rain-related accidents in different areas of the city has risen to 28. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and City Nazim Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the first multi-storey car parking plaza built by the city government in the Saddar, Karachi today. Saddar has been the most crowded and busy area of Karachi which desperately needs a project like this. Work on the construction of the parking plaza began in 2006 and it was completed at a cost of Rs650 million.

“Roshnion ka Shehar Karachi” as we used to study in schools is truly a kind of its own city. Those who belong to it or had lived here can never forget it. It has been famous as Mini Dubai for Pakistanis who came here in search of jobs. It has provided everything to its dwellers. The news is from a foreign magazine Forbes listing the most expensive cities of the world. A global survey of most expensive cities for expatriates has rated Karachi as the fourth cheapest city while South Africa’s Johannesburg has been adjudged the cheapest. The cost of living survey, conducted by consultancy firm Mercer, studied 143 cities across the world.
