Mardan, about 70km northwest of Peshawar, capital of the NWFP, is the first place those fleeing volatile areas like Buner, Swat and Lower Dir come to, and the government has established three camps in the district – Jalala, Sheikh Yasin and Sheikh Shahzad.

In the first four months after assuming the presidency last September, he made nine foreign trips costing Rs150m. He took off within a week of taking oath. This matter is a serious one and cannot be ignored. The country is in flames, hundreds of thousands are being uprooted from their homes in the north because of the army action in the Malakand division, the Taliban are retaliating and an economic meltdown is looming large.

Famous journalist, Hamid Mir on his visit of one of these camps asked a question to all of us. The United Nations inspected refugee camps in the Swat region of Pakistan Thursday. Pakistan has a growing humanitarian crisis, where 800-thousand people have fled their homes in recent weeks. Condition of these camps due to a huge influx is not so good.

IDP Registration Point:

22 Registration points have been established out of which 15 registration points in District Mardan and 07 in District Swabi. Each registration point has 15 to 20 Registration counters including separate counter for females and special persons.
