Aleem Dar Won ICC Umpire of the Year Award

Pakistan’s Aleem Sarwar Dar, the look a like of Waqar Younus was awarded the Umpire of the Year award 2009 at the annual ICC awards in Johannesburg. It was the first time that a Pakistani umpire and anyone other than Taufel had picked up the accolade in the six years that the ceremony has taken place.

ICC trophyThree Pakistani players were nominated in the Twenty20 international performance of the year category for the International Cricket Council (ICC) annual awards. Pakistan women’s team captain Sana Mir earned a nomination in the women cricketer of the year category & two Pakistani umpires on the ICC Elite Panel, Aleem Dar and Asad Rauf have been nominated in the umpire of the year category along with current holder Simon Taufel.

Mohammad Yousuf moved to the top of the official test rankings for batsmen this week after his first test since being recalled on quitting the unofficial Indian Cricket League. He was 2007 ICC cricketer of the year, was second when he was removed from the rankings early in 2009 because Pakistan had not played a test match since the qualifying date.

davidmorgan_narrowweb__300x3960It will be disappointing news after a grand victory of T 20 World Cup by Pakistan; people were expecting to hear something to rejoice about from ICC regarding their rights of 14 fixtures in World Cup 20011. But the efforts ended in a smoke and International Cricket Council president David Morgan announced that Matches in the 2011 World Cup due to be staged in Pakistan will not take place in the United Arab Emirates, Instead, the 14 fixtures will, despite the wishes of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), take place in the three subcontinent co-host nations of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

In a highly awaited match of Pakistan in the T 20 world cup tournament England defeated Pakistan by 48 runs to come back into the tournament in their group B day-night match at The Oval.

Chasing an improbable target of 186 runs, Pakistan made 137 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

lalit-modiLalit Modi, the Champions League chief from India has declared that Pakistan is not a part of the seven-nation spectacle because their players cannot travel to India due to government restrictions.

“Unfortunately, the Pakistan government won’t give them (the players) clearance to come to India, and since Saturday was our cut-off date, it’s not possible to have a team from Pakistan this year,” Modi said in an interview.
