MPA Shumaila Rana’s Case: Shocking Audio Conversation
Pakistan Muslim League’s member Punjab assembly, Shumaila Rana has been accused for credit card theft. She had stolen two credit cards of Zaira Malik from health club of Lahore and quickly went for shopping of around 80,000 Rupees. Zaira malik’s brother had registered FIR against the MPA and the news became the burning question over night. She was booked in theft case on July 11 under Section 379. During the investigations, Section 419 for cheating by impersonation, Section 420 for fraud, Sections 468 and 471 for forgery were also included in the First Information Report (FIR) registered against Shumaila Rana. Punjab Assembly speaker Rana Mohammad Iqbal had granted police the permission to arrest Shumaila Rana while she has also been summoned by another district and sessions judge on July 23 in a land grabbing case.

Following the tradition Shumaila Rana denies the charges and appears in front of the court also. She is now on pre arrest bail. Now the shocking part of the whole story reveals today when a private channel aired the telephonic conversation of her with the bank staff in which she calls her Zaira Malik and inquires about the remaining balance in the credit card. The Bank representative asked her date of birth thrice for verification reasons but she replied to that only with” Yes, yes, yes….Hold on” and than disconnecting the call.
PML-N has demanded a resignation from her earlier. Law Minister Punjab, Rana Sana ullah has also accepted that this audio tape is a strong proof against her but he insisted that let the court decide first. The proofs against her are good enough fro imprisonment. PML-N should not only take strong action against her but also make it a lesson for other Parliamentarians and party workers who are not sincere with the people of Pakistan and involve in looting.

Appreciate the role of the media is really appreciative, also the people who followed the story. If would be good beginning to try the corrupt politicians in past they were getting away by saying this is a plot by the opposition party and the trial were taking so long that the people and media even forget and the corrupt people were getting away without punishment.
From the evidence it looks that she is guilty, hope she gets the prison term if guilty. Lets pray this is the beginning of politicians to get punishment for their crimes.
I will appreciate the PML-N also, they are settings good examples. Parties should not stand behind such criminal activities. PML-N forced to resign their important Member Parliament in Rawalpindi previously. This is a very positive approach in Pakistani politics. Every one should be accountable on his/her doings.
@Sameer
i agree with you media has done some extraordinary work. Culprits should be punished.
@Umer
Yes PML-N whether under media pressure or anything else they had set a good example.
After the release of the video showing Shumaila Rana shopping with allegedly stolen credit card, the PML-N demanded her resignation but Shumaila Rana sought time to prove her innocence. Sources said the second video showing Shumaila Rana talking to the banker played a key role in prompting her resignation.

Her resignation has been accepted and she has been terminated from the party. Hope this is the beginning of bringing corrupt and powerful to justice.
How it is possible that someone does corruption with nations wealth and the case is settled by taking a portion of the money. I am talking about the NAB has settled a few cases by taking only a fraction of the money from the corrupt people and those people are enjoying their life abroad, and Pakistanis have to pay more than 25 Rs. per liter as Tax to run the government expenses.
Hope the looted money could be brought back to Pakistan.
There is an extension in her pre arrest bail causing suspicion.
HIna is right, culprits should be punished, no matter who ever she/he,
