General Kayani; First Army Chief to Fly F-16

COAS in F-16

The brave and courageous Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani for the first time in the history of Pakistan army took part in an air operation against militants.

Gen Kayani flew an F-16 fighter jet himself to hit positions of the militants in Swat and Malakand Division. Gen Kayani, who wore the uniform of a pilot, was seen off by Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman at a PAF base. Gen Kayani was accompanied by a co-pilot during the air operation.

Earlier addressing airmen during his visit to an important operational air base of the Pakistan Air force Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani made it clear that:

we don’t need any kind of help or foreign advice regarding war against terror urging we are fully capable to find a solution ourselves”.

While addressing Air Men, Chief of Army Staff said that;

undoubtedly Pakistan Air Force is world’s finest force adding we are proud of our Army as well as Air Force in true letter and spirit. Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force is fully equipped to thwart any challenge internal or external tooth and nail.

On the occasion, COAS announced to provide Rs 1.5 million to the Jawans of PAF while the salaries of the Jawans who are deployed in foreign borders will be double from Ist of July, 2009.

Later, he lauded the services of martyred Army officials in the operation and elsewhere adding indubitably we are all passing through tough and thorny period of examination urging we will be successful.
