Entertainment tax waived: Revival of Cinema Guaranteed?
Recently I had read that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif abolished 65 per cent entertainment tax on cinemas while Pakistani cinemas are flooded with Indian movies and their jam packed shows. He formed a committee to solve cinema and film industry’s problems after meeting with Pakistan Cinema Owners Association representatives Syed Noor, Shahzad Rafiq, Jahanzeb Baig, Faisal and Nadeem along with MPA Farah Deeba. He should also warned them to ban violent and alien cultured films. Promotion of true Pakistani culture and some positive image projection is the need of time. Social issues should be addressed via cinema to make people learn something out of entertainment.
Indian movies are now playing in cinemas all over Pakistan and Pakistani media is promoting them also. Pakistani movies on the other hand are only doing some business in Punjab sector where people are interested in watching “Hakim Arain”, “Gujjar Badmash” kind of films. Pakistani cinema has lost its charm way back in 80’s and till now unable to put up something extraordinary. Pakistani movies got a boom when first private TV channel came into existence in early 90’s called “NTM” later became “STN”. Unlike PTV which shows a Movie as a treat on every Eid day only, the attraction private channel gave was weekly movie broadcast. I had seen so many classic and cinematically brilliant movies like “Aaina”, “Qurbani”, “Mera nam hai muhabbat”, “Arman”, “Saheli”, “Salakhien” and many more. Strong script and melodious music of that era has truly been unforgettable.
Few great Melodies from past flicks:
Some serious steps and injection of fresh blood into the rotten vessels of Lollywood are indispensable. Private TV channels should also support our movies by featuring them on occasions like Eid. Geo had done some promotions for Pakistani cinema revival by supporting “Khuda kay Liaye“ by Shoaib Mansoor and “Ramchand Pakistani” by Mehreen Jabbar proving Pakistani film makers caliber. revival of Industry is no doubt directly proportional to government support and some serious filmmakers efforts.

you should be add “Mohabbataan Sachiyaan”, its great movie.
