Ingredient list of Lays

A lot had been already discussed about code E631 and lays chips and the debate is till on going. Addressing various comments on previous posts about the topic I am posting image of Lays wrapper which shows code E631 printed on it. Strangely this code number is now hidden from the ingredients list of chips pack, as reported by saady in comments on a post at Pak factor. If any one wants to share an image of the Lays pack ingredients from any where in the world he or she is welcome here. I will post that image here with his or her name and than we can have some conclusion about the issue, perhaps.

Thanks for positng the image Hina. I guess people like Humeira (who posted her comments in another post) who are still not clear about the issue will get to understand the seriousness of this matter.

For those of you who are eating lay’s.. let me reiterate that the new lay’s packs do not contain any of the codes as seen above. They just contain the first line uptill oil.

As for the Jamia Binoria fatwaa… I would like to ask them the basis of their reserch (what was the scientific basis for that) as it is quite clearly mentioned on Lay’s website that they do use pork-based ingredients in the production of lay’s.

(note they mention that they do use porcine enzymes in manufacturing lay’s)

As for the Juanid Jamshed advertisement, this no doubt is a great tactic by PepsiCo. to change the mind sets of the people. I must commend them for coming up with a very innovative idea of using a person like Junaid Jamshed who is perceived as a highly pious and righhteous person.

However, the following article sheds light on some aspects that are not understood by the comman man who watched the ad and agrees that he is right.

I admit that I am not a regular reader of this newspaper… but this news feed is quite insightful and asks some very pertinent questions and puts forward some excellent views of the top notch mufti’s and aalim’s of Pakistan.
